VALENCIA. A business delegation approximately 90 peopleheaded by the Minister of State for Infrastructure of Brazil, Marcelo Sampaiohas visited the municipality of Sagunto this Tuesday to find out about business opportunities linked mainly to the seaport, the Saggas regasification plant and Parc Sagunt II.
The mayor of Sagunto, Dario Moreno; the regional secretary for Economic Model and Financing, and president of Espais Econòmics Empresarials, Maria Jose Mira; and the CEO of Saggas, Santiago Alvarezhave received the minister and the Brazilian delegation at the Old Sanatorium Civic Center of Puerto de Sagunto in a presentation ceremony organized by the Port Authority of Valencia and which was also attended by other members of the municipal government team.
The mayor welcomed the minister and the delegation, thanked them for their interest in the municipality and its facilities, and expressed his hope of establishing a mutually beneficial relationship between Sagunt and Brazil. “Sagunt has always been an open city and, particularly, a city open to business”Moreno asserted before glossing over the commercial importance of the municipality throughout history.
“Since the 1980s, the municipality has been in continuous evolution, adapting to the times and a necessary reinvention; and today we can present an economically competitive, cutting-edge city that looks to the future with a clear plan, with a clear mission”, the mayor explained. “Sagunto has managed to position itself as a benchmark city thanks to all this collective work, and within it are also alliances with other territories and business sectors that can result in mutual benefit,” he added.
The general director of Saggas has made the activity of the company he represents known and has reviewed the organization and current situation of the gas market in Spain and Europe, emphasizing the opportunities they offer, in line with this stage, Sagunt and its seaport, as well as all its infrastructures, its connections and its industrial land.
Parc Sagunt I and II
For its part, the regional secretary has presented to the business group the industrial parks Parc Sagunt I and II. During her speech, the president of Espais Econòmics Empresarials, which is the entity that manages the business park, focused on Parc Sagunt II, on the opportunities of this new area of economic activity and on the success that the announcement by part of Volkswagen to install its gigafactory for the manufacture of batteries for electric vehicles at that location in the municipality. Regarding the arrival of Volkswagenthe mayor has pointed out that “to have reached this success story there has been a lot of work behind it by the local, regional and state administrations, which have always worked as one”.
“We have been clear about the roadmap to follow, we have assessed the aspects in which we had opportunities or already had some established strengths and we have tried to exploit them to the maximum”, added the mayor, who highlighted as part of the advantages of the municipality the Saggas regasification company, whom he thanked for the trust shown in Sagunt long before Volkswagen’s announcement and which also “places the city as a key infrastructure in Spain and Europe today”.
Along the same lines, the mayor has not forgotten the Port Authority of Valencia, which organized the day, nor the business fabric of the municipality. “Transport infrastructures have also been key. The Valencia Port Authority has been essential to improve port infrastructures but, going beyond what is strictly port, it has also been involved in improving highways and rail connections, because nowadays talking about better transport connections, of intermodality, is to speak of more competitive companies”, he pointed out.
Moreno has underlined the “continuous and direct conversation with the business sector” and has highlighted in this regard ASECAM and participation in a renewable energy project through green hydrogen that he has assured that “it can be key to the competitiveness” of the companies in the municipality.
After this presentation, the Brazilian delegation has visited Parc Sagunt, the Saggas facilities and the Sagunt seaport. During the previous day of this Monday, the port of Valencia was visited.
